Tare is metered compute for autonomous agents. On a scale, tare is the weight of the container: you press TARE to zero it out so the price is for what is actually inside. We do the same thing to a compute bill. Every call is weighed three ways. Gross is everything the request consumed. Tare is the part that was never the work you asked for — a retry after an upstream 502, tokens a model burned before it errored, a stream you closed, the seconds a sandbox spent booting, work a budget cap refused. Net is what you pay. Every gateway in this category meters the gross and calls it usage; the container is quietly in the price, and the only way you would find out is by adding a column nobody prints. net + tare = gross, exactly, in whole micro-cents, asserted on every response. Money is never a float, because two machines replaying one invoice have to agree about the total. Net is the remainder and never a second costing — we measured that re-costing it independently would come out heavy on 71% of calls, always in our favour. There is no confidential tier and no attestation claim. We run on ordinary hardware, every receipt says attestation: arithmetic, and that is the only proof we can actually hand you.
